I International Congress on Art and Collecting: “Art and Collecting in Spanish America: New Perspectives for Study”
Kleos Art Consulting and Universidad Europea are pleased to invite you to the I International Congress on Art and Collecting. This first edition will focus on the art forms of painting, sculpture, goldsmithing, textiles, liturgical art, and craftsmanship created in Spanish America during the 16th, 17th, and 18th centuries, exploring their connections with collecting, patronage, and the art market.
The congress will be held in Madrid, in-person and online, during the first week of March 2025. Each participant will have 20 minutes to present their research in either Spanish or English. Additionally, speakers will have the opportunity to publish their work in conference proceedings or as a book chapter with a Q1-indexed publisher.
We invite researchers, professors, doctoral candidates, master’s and postgraduate students, and other professionals to join this event, which seeks to foster research on art and collecting from perspectives such as art history, the history of collecting, sociology, art economics, or current art market practices. Potential topics include:
- Biographies and career paths of artists in the New World
- Cultural exchange and artistic influences in America
- Representative artworks, themes, genres, and iconographies of the Viceroyalties
- Artistic techniques in sculpture, painting, goldsmithing, and decorative arts
- History of museums or significant collections in America
- Patrons and promoters of fine arts in colonial America
- Colonial art collecting and the art market
Important Dates
- January 15: Proposal submission deadline (500 words max) in Word format, including full name, affiliation, email, phone, and 200-word CV.
- January 30: Extended abstract submission deadline.
- February 28: Final paper submission for peer review.

I Congreso Internacional de Arte y Coleccionismo: “Arte y Coleccionismo en la América Española: Nuevas Perspectivas de Estudio”
Kleos Art Consulting y la Universidad Europea invitan a participar en el I Congreso Internacional de Arte y Coleccionismo. Este congreso, centrado en la pintura, escultura, orfebrería, arte textil, arte litúrgico y artesanía de la América española de los siglos XVI a XVIII, examina su relación con el coleccionismo, el mecenazgo y el mercado artístico.
El evento se llevará a cabo de forma presencial y en línea en Madrid, durante la primera semana de marzo de 2025. Los participantes tendrán 20 minutos para presentar sus investigaciones en español o inglés. Además, los ponentes tendrán la opción de publicar sus trabajos en actas del congreso o en capítulos de libros en una editorial indexada en Q1.
Este congreso está abierto a investigadores, profesores, doctorandos, estudiantes de máster y otros profesionales interesados en explorar el arte y coleccionismo desde disciplinas como la historia del arte, la historia del coleccionismo, la sociología, la economía del arte o estudios de mercado. Entre los temas a tratar se encuentran:
- Biografías y trayectorias de artistas en el Nuevo Mundo
- Influencias artísticas y estilísticas en América
- Obras de arte, temas, géneros e iconografías virreinales
- Técnicas artísticas en escultura, pintura, orfebrería y artes decorativas
- Historia de museos o colecciones de importancia en América
- Promotores y mecenas de las bellas artes en América colonial
- Coleccionismo y mercado de arte colonial
Fechas Importantes
- 15 de enero: Cierre de envío de propuestas (máximo 500 palabras) en formato Word con nombre, filiación, email, teléfono y CV de 200 palabras.
- 30 de enero: Cierre del envío de resúmenes ampliados.
- 28 de febrero: Envío de textos finales para revisión por pares.
